What is it?
Neuracel is an herbal nutritional supplement that is taken to help with overall bodily wellness and to reduce the pain that is associated with nerve damage. Neuracel’s advertising recommends it for improving overall nerve function, as well as joint health, mental function, and mood. They further say that Neuracel can reduce inflammation, stiffness, and swelling while improving users’ ease and range of motion.
Our panel of wellness experts currently rates Flexitrinol as the most effective supplement for improving overall joint health. It is the product that scored the best in our series of clinical trials measuring flexibility, mobility and pain levels. Click here to learn more about why Flexitrinol scored so highly.
Neuracel Ingredients and Side Effects
California Poppy |
Passion Flower |
Prickly Ash Bark |
Corydalis Yanhuso |
California Poppy: The state flower of California and is thought by some to potentially have medicinal applications.
There is insufficient clinical evidence to support the claims that California poppy has therapeutic value, however it has been used in home remedies to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, and bed-wetting. There are no known short-term side effects that are associated with California poppy, and there is insufficient data to say if there are any consequences to long-term usage.
Passionflower: A Peruvian plant that is thought to possibly have some calming or sedative effects.
The scientific evidence surrounding passionflower if still very new, however there is some indication that it may be useful in the treatment of anxiety, insomnia, and adjustment disorders.
Passionflower is thought to be potentially unsafe when taken orally in large doses, and there are a number of side effects that could possibly be connected with consuming passionflower including:
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
It is not recommended that pregnant or breastfeeding women consume passionflower.
Prickly Ash Bark: A North American plant that is used by some native cultures as a stimulant and is thought to potentially have some medicinal qualities.
There is no clinical data at this time to support any of these applications, but prickly ash bark has been used to treat blood circulation issues, ulcers, and toothaches. It is sometimes given to people with fevers in an attempt to induce sweating and “break” the fever, although again there is no scientific evidence supporting that theory.
It is unknown what side effects, if any, may be related to prickly ash bark, however there is some concern that prolonged consumption could have a negative impact on liver health and potentially increase the negative effects of some liver conditions.
Corydalis Yanhuso: Readers that are paying attention may have noticed a pattern by this time, but corydalis yanhuso is another plant whose roots are used for medicine in some cultures, even though there is no clinical data that exists supporting those uses.
Corydalis yanhuso has at times been used in some home remedies to treat:
- Negative thought patterns
It is not known what side effects may be attributed to corydalis yanhuso consumption, although there are some indications that it may lead to muscle spasms and tremors.
Corydalis yanhuso may also be linked to the increased risk of miscarriages, so pregnant women are strongly encouraged to avoid corydalis yanhuso, as are any women who are currently breast feeding.

Neuracel Quality of Ingredients
Neuracel has a very interesting blend of ingredients. None of the four active agents in Neuracel are commonly found in any of the leading joint health supplement brands, and also none of the most popular and effective ingredients that are used by those brands are in Neuracel.
None of Neuracel’s four active ingredients have been studied enough that our team of experts is comfortable recommending them until there is more data available, especially about the consequences of their long-term use.
Despite the relatively small amount of information about these herbs that we currently have, it is possible to say that none of them seem to function as joint-specific health aids. None of these ingredients has shown that it might stimulate collagen growth, protein function, skeletal health, or any other of the underlying components of the body’s connective system.
The way Neuracel might be of use for joint health is that it is possible some of their ingredients help reduce inflammation. Reduced swelling, stiffness, and pain makes movement easier and increases range of motion, but again, there is no proof that these ingredients actually do have those properties.
Additionally, our panel does not currently recommend that our readers take any supplements with passionflower in them, and they also have some concerns about prickly ash bark as well. There are enough early indicators of trouble for these ingredients, especially regarding their effects on liver function and heart safety, that they feel it would be irresponsible to encourage their consumption until there is more information available about their safety.

The Price and Quality of Neuracel
Neuracel is available online through a number of different distributors whose prices vary somewhat widely. In general one can expect to pay something similar to this:
- 1, 90-count bottle of Neuracel capsules: $53.99
This is an incredibly high price for a daily supplement. Neuracel’s instructions say that users should take one to two pills three times daily, meaning that one 90-capsule bottle only lasts 15-30 days. Factor in shipping and handling and you are paying between two and four dollars per day, a totally unreasonable price given what the vast majority of supplements retail for.

Customer Opinions of Neuracel
The online reviews for Neuracel are some of the most negative that our panel has encountered in all of their time reviewing supplements. They have as many one-star reviews as five-star reviews on Amazon and there are many entries dedicated to their products on sites like Ripoff Report and Complaints Bureau. Many of the responses were similar to these:
“The ads say to take it for a couple months before expecting results. I tried for eight months out of either stubbornness or gullibility, but I never felt any results.”
“If you want to save yourself some time, take sixty bucks and hand it to the first homeless person on the street. Your joints will feel the same either way, but at least your giving your money to someone that could use it instead of these crooks.”
What’s interesting about their Amazon reviews is that the majority of the 5-star reviews had the exact same text, indicating that they were probably produced by the company themselves. This means that their numbers were probably not even as good as they appear, and they appear to be the worst numbers that our team has encountered.

Conclusion – Does Neuracel Work?
After examining their unconventional ingredients, the clinical data, and the reports of their customers, there is no other conclusion that can be drawn but no, Neuracel is not an effective joint health product.
There is no evidence that Neuracel can improve joint health at the core level with basic needs like tissue generation and repair, and there is very little evidence that it can reduce inflammation either.
Their entire active ingredients list is untested, making it impossible to say if this product is even safe for long-term usage. There is some evidence, however, that two of their ingredients – passionflower and prickly ash bark – may in fact be connected to serious long-term health issues.
Considering all of these reasons and the fact that Neuracel is also far more expensive than almost every other joint health supplement, there is no way that our panel can recommend its usage.
Our team experts currently recommend Flexitrinol as their top ranked joint health supplement. It is the nutritional aid that performed the best in their clinical trials in terms of increasing flexibility and decreasing joint pain. I cannot comment on the value of Neuracel as a viable medication for joint or skeletal problems. However, I can absolutely say that Neuracel has been very helpful in relieving my anxiety symptoms. I was suffering from hot flashes of ears and neck, overactive worrying over mostly trivial matters and other disruptive symptoms. At this point I must say that it seems that the recommended dosage of Neuracel has completely handled these symptoms and provided very much appreciated relief. The relief was almost immediate. It REALLY seemed too good to be possible. It would seem reasonable for anyone suffering with anxiety symptoms to try this product. I am a 73 year old white male.
