Provailen Ingredients and Side Effects
GanoUltra (Gandoderma Lucidum) |
Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma Lingifolia) |
Cayenne Powder (Capsicum Annuum) |
GanoUltra: The main active chemical found in reishi mushrooms, a species of fungus native to the far east. Some cultures have used reishi mushrooms to treat conditions like diabetes, hepatitis, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, however there is insufficient data to show that it is actually effective for those applications.
Reishi mushrooms have been shown to potentially have toxic effects when taken orally more than once a month, which can lead to severe liver damage. Short-term side effects possibly associated with ganoderma lucidum consumption may include:
Tongkat Ali: An evergreen plant commonly found in Malaysia and other parts of southern Asia. Tongkat is frequently used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction in males because of its effects on blood circulation, and it may boost testosterone levels as well.
ED treatment is the only application for tongkat ali that has been verified clinically, however it has also appeared in home remedies for conditions like:
There are no known side effects related to tongkat ali consumption, however that may only be due to lack of testing.
There are also some concerns about the long-term sustainability of tongkat ali plants. The fad status of the herb have led to serious over-farming, and at the current rate of consumption it is estimated that tongkat ali will be extinct within 20 years.
Cayenne Powder: A spicy food additive that has also been shown to have some medicinal applications. There are a number of unverified uses for cayenne, however there is actually some clinical data to show that it can help relieve the pain and stiffness related to inflammation.
It is possible that it is more effective for these conditions when applied topically as opposed to ingested orally, however data show that it may be useful for patients with psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, shingles, and diabetic neuropathy.
Cayenne powder is thought to be likely safe for most people when taken in small doses.

Provailen Quality of Ingredients
When our team of nutritional scientists were shown the list of ingredients in Provailen some were confused about why it was described as a joint health supplement.
Provailen doesn’t choose to use any of the traditional ingredients that are found in joint health supplements. There is no glucosamine, chondroitin, or any of the other additives that have been clinically shown to improve collagen production, cartilage health, or any of the other core-level factors that are important for joint functionality.
They have one ingredient – cayenne powder – that has been shown to be helpful for reducing joint inflammation, however it is generally more effective for that purpose when applied topically than taken orally.
The other two ingredients, GanoUltra and tongkat ali, are not really indicated for joint health in any way. They may improve circulation, or immune function, or other bodily functions that are indirectly related to joint health, but they don’t provide any kind of health benefits that could be called joint-specific.
It is also strange to see GanoUltra in a daily oral supplement as it has had some serious health consequences linked its daily consumption. Our experts do not currently recommend any daily supplements that uses GanoUltra or other forms of gandoderma lucidum as additives.

The Price and Quality of Provailen
Provailen is sold directly through their website, or it is available from a number of other third party distributors online. Generally it falls somewhere in this price range:
- 1, 60-count bottle of Provailen capsules: $19.99
This price seems to be very low at first, however Provailen recommends 3 doses per day in order to see results, so each bottle is approximately a 20-day supply. This makes Provailen about average for a joint health supplement.
Given that Provailen does not contain any glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, Omega-3 fatty acids, or any other ingredients found in most over the counter joint health supplements, it is possible that some users would like to add a more traditional secondary supplement into their daily regime. This would make Provailen a much less cost effective option.

Business of Provailen
A company called RDK HOLDINGS, INC distributes Provailen. They currently list their contact information as:
Phone Number: (214) 446-0158
Address: 3636 N. Buckner Blvd
Dallas, TX 75228
Email: [email protected]
There is also a customer comment form on their website that can be used to contact Provailen or RDK Holdings.
It should be noted that RDK Holdings currently has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, due in large part to the fact that they are currently in violation of Federal Trade Commission’s advertising standards regulations.
The National Advertising Division has sent RDK Holdings multiple warnings about the claims that they make about Provailen in their ads. The NAD warned that since Provailen is not FDA approved they are not allowed to make statements about specific effects or conditions that it treats, nor are they allowed to claim that there are no side effects associated with its consumption.

Customer Opinions of Provailen
The online reviews of Provailen are not particularly flattering. Most decent supplements tend to get around 70-80% 5-star reviews, and the best ones are in the upper 80’s and 90’s. Provailen has a brutal 49% 5-star rating on Amazon, one of the lowest ratings that our reviewers have encountered since they began rating joint health supplements. Some of the complaints that customers had with the products were similar to these:
“I’m fairly certain that Provailen is a placebo. I ordered two bottles of the stuff, I’ve taken them both now, and my knees still hurt as much as ever.”
“I saw ads for Provailen and thought I’d try switching over from my old joint supplement. What a mistake that was – within days my old pain was back and I had to go right back to the old stuff.”
“Not only did Provailen not help my shoulder pain, it started giving me nerve irritation up and down my arms.”
The most frequent complaint about Provailen was its lack of effectiveness at ending joint pain. Other complaints about the product were related to some mild side effects including stomach discomfort, flatulence, and nerve pain.
There were also quite a few accounts online about customers who were upset with their billing and returns policies. Some customers report being charged larger prices than were advertised, and there were several reports about Provailen failing to live up to their promises about refunding dissatisfied customers.

Conclusion – Does Provailen Work?
Our panel of nutritional and wellness experts were unanimous in their belief that customers should not use Provailen as a joint health supplement.
Their unconventional ingredients list is only slightly indicated to treat the symptoms of inflammation, and is not at all equipped to help build overall stronger joints.
Most importantly though, their ingredients are not considered safe for everyday human consumption and could potentially lead to very serious conditions down the road including liver and kidney damage.
Our team of experts strongly discourages our readers from using Provailen if any other options are available, at least until there is more research about its long-term safety.
Currently our experts are recommending Flexitrinol for all joint health supplement needs. Its blend has the most effective ingredients for helping build naturally stronger joints that are available without a prescription.
