What is it?

TrimSpa is a weight loss pill brand claiming to offer scientifically formulated ingredients for appetite reduction, and increased weight loss versus just dieting alone. Many different versions of this brand have been released, and the original TrimSpa is no longer made.

An 8 week study performed by the company showed up to 23.7 pounds of weight loss versus a placebo. Though they also admit the average person lost 3.25 pounds more than just a placebo. This was all done on a 2,000 calorie diet alongside exercise. Are there any weight loss results truly possible? What have other customers experienced? You’ll learn what TrimSpa truly offers in this comprehensive review.

TrimSpa Ingredients and Side Effects

The company is now only selling a new version of TrimSpa called TrimSpa X32. Here are the ingredients:

Chromium Dinicotinate Glycinate Glucomannan Cocoa Extract (Standardized for Phenylethylamine PEA, Tyramine and 10% Theobromine Green Tea Extract (standardized for EGCG, Polyphenols, and 40% Caffeine Hoodia Gordonii
Glucosamine HCI Citrus Naringin Vanadium Amino Acid Chelate Microcrystalline Cellulose Dicalcium Phosphate
Magnesium Stearate Aerosil 200 Titanium Dioxide Gelatin Water

Glucomannan: Thickener and cheap fiber source added to both processed foods and weight loss supplements.

It’s included in supplements to help suppress appetite, and to provide a sense of fullness. Though a major study by several schools including the Rush University of Nursing have this to say:

“did not promote weight loss in overweight and moderately obese individuals”

“body composition, hunger/fullness, and lipid and glucose parameters also were not significantly altered”

The Federal Trade Commission has also warned against companies making weight loss claims, since Glucomannan has not been proven to help with reducing weight.

The safety of this ingredient has also been questioned. Health Canada adds that it may:

“have a potential harm if taken without at least 250 ml or 8 ounces of water or other fluid”

This is because this ingredient can promote blocking in the esophagus, intestines, and throat.

Cocoa Extract: This stimulant has Theobromine, Tyramine and PEA extracted.

Tyramine is made from the amino acid tyrosine, and it’s known for potentially producing headaches and it’s currently banned in Florida due to it being a potential hallucinogen.

PEA is used to influence the hormones dopamine which effect mood. Though this ingredient is limited in its usage as Examine.com reports:

“limited supplemental usage due to being rapidly broken down into inactive components”

Theobromine is a stimulant similar to caffeine; it increases mental alertness and stimulates the heart. It’s possible for it to lead to side effects such as:

  • Vomiting and upset stomach.
  • Restlessness and anxiety.
  • Tremors, shakes, and jitters.
  • Insomnia.

In the form added to TrimSpa, each of these extracts is increased up to higher rates then what you would get through food. Therefore, it may potentially lead to increased risks for side effects.

Green Tea Extract: This form of green tea extract has a specific amount of the antioxidants EGCG and Polyphenols. It also is formulated to have 40% caffeine.

In this concentrated forms there’s fear of potential symptoms. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health adds how there:

“have been some case reports of liver problems in people taking concentrated green tea extracts”

Studies on its potential weight loss effects have been mixed, with some believing that it’s only due to the added caffeine. Caffeine is not a long term solution to weight loss, as its positive effects are reduced to only sleep loss.

It can potentially lead to side effects as well:

  • Headaches and throbbing pain.
  • Rapid heart rate, jitters, and muscle spasms.
  • Feelings of anxiety and restlessness.
  • Insomnia.
  • Increased urination.

Hoodia Gordonii: Shrub used to help suppress s appetite. Examine.com mentions that it:

“cannot easily reach the brain to do this, and aside from failures of hoodia to suppress appetite… may also be mildly toxic”

It’s also been shown in studies to have no weight loss benefit, though it may be harmful.

Citrus Naringin: Flavonoid taken from citrus fruit, it provides its bitter flavor. It’s used to improve heart health, cholesterol levels, and improve blood sugar levels.

This ingredient can interact negatively with medications, and it’s advised not to take it if on any drugs.

Most studies have been performed on cells and animals, and it’s unknown if it’s safe or effective.

Vanadium Amino Acid Chelate: Patented ingredient combining a mineral and amino acid, it’s used to help lower cholesterol and improve overall growth.

Though it’s only been studied by the manufacturers who make it. It’s unknown if this combination is safe or at all effective.

TrimSpa Quality of Ingredients

trimspaThis formula relies on a lot of stimulants in order to help with weight loss. The issue with stimulants is that the body often builds a tolerance which reduces its weight loss benefits. It’s also potentially side effect causing.

The added Glucomannan may also potentially cause side effects, and it has not been proven to help with weight loss.

Though there might be a metabolism boost and alertness offered via the stimulants, it’s not a long term solution. This is likely why the clinical study offered on their supplement was only done for 8 weeks.

In this 8 week study there was only 3.25 pounds of weight loss more than placebo. This was in combination with a low 2,000 calories and exercise. It’s possible to have these kinds of effects with caffeine alone.

The Price and Quality of TrimSpa

The official website only allows for 2 bottles to be sold at a time, and they push their auto renewal program that automatically charges credit cards.  This 2 bottle option that is automatically added when you try and make a purchase sells for $119.90.

One single bottle after this 2 bottle period costs $69.90 for a 70 serving, 11.66 day lasting bottle. The company claims the maximum amount you can take a day is 6 pills, so the total end result for quantity is limited to an awkward 11.66 day serving.

This is expensive for what’s essentially a cheap fiber source in Glucomannan, many stimulants found in green tea as well as cocoa powder, and the unproven citrus Naringin and Hoodia Gordonii.

There’s also 7 inactive ingredients meant to maintain the ingredients and to make it easier to swallow.

Overall, you’re paying a large amount for potentially dangerous and some unscientifically verified ingredients. The clinical studies performed were also on a low 2,000 calorie diet. This for many might not be enough to help keep one from having their appetite suppressed.

The company was fined 1.5 million dollars by the Federal Trade Commission due to unsupportive and exaggerated weight loss claims.

TrimSpa X32 was also claimed to be effective for weight loss. Though the FTC reported that this claim:

“was, and is, false or misleading”

Very few details are available to explain how the company works. There are also no online opinions about whether or not their money back return policy is legitimate.

Customer Opinions of TrimSpa

Though once popular, this new version of TrimSpa isn’t reviewed much online. Here’s what the few people who’ve used it say:

“hunger is not really curbed and my appetite seems normal

“did not lose weight”

“got nothing but sleepless nights”

“just as hungry, and there was no change in my energy levels”

Some say it helped with appetite, but the majority said there was no change in weight even with diet and exercise.

Side effects are also listed often by customers. People have experienced issues such as headaches, dehydration, insomnia, and restlessness to name a few.

There are also many people who mention that they took a full maximum serving, and they still didn’t experience any positive changes.

Conclusion – Does TrimSpa Work?

Because of TrimSpa’s popular name and flashy website, you still might be interested in giving it a try. Do keep in mind even in their own clinical studies weight loss was low, and many customers failed to see any weight loss benefits. This brand is also lacking information on how much caffeine is added. Though this stimulant heavy formula might have an effect, it’s not a long term solution to weight loss.

Better options exist that are stimulant free, customer approved, and made by a legitimate company that has never had issues with the FTC.

One such brand that won the best supplement of 2024 is Sletrokor.

This supplement is made only with all natural ingredients that are stimulant free, and backed by real research. That’s why customers have enjoyed using this for substantial weight loss benefits. They even offer testimonials, and you can read online how many have benefited with noticeable weight loss benefits. Best of all this formula has potent ingredients shown to be effective.

Sletrokor is also backed by a great 30 day money back guarantee, so there are no fears of using a potentially unsafe or ineffective supplement.
