Caffeine Anhydrous: Dehydrated version of caffeine added to help increase metabolism and energy. No mention is given as to how much caffeine is added, this makes it impossible to know how to properly dose this ingredient for safe results.
Caffeine can cause many side effects, and in high amounts it can be extremely dangerous. Possible symptoms may include:
Insomnia, rapid heart rate, and feelings of paranoia.
Mood swings, depression, and agitation.
Tremors, jitters, and cold sweats.
Headaches, ringing in the ears, and nausea.
Irritability, inability to relax, and constipation.
Certain people have more of a reaction to this ingredient, and it’s advised for the average person to limit themselves to 400 mg a day. Without knowing the full amount of caffeine, it’s advised not to take any other stimulant ingredients which can increase the risk for symptoms.
L-Carnitine Fumarate: Amino acid used to help metabolize fat and improve body functions. It’s found in enough foods that it does not need to be taken by most people.
Possilbe side effects may include:
Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Fishy breathe, sweat ,and urine.
Seizures, heartburn ,and upset stomach.
Extra supplementation including the amounts already found in food can lead to other unwanted side effects.
a-Lacy: This patented ingredient is used to help burn fat. It’s made by the Nutraceuticals International group, and it’s a blend of both alpha-lipoic acid and cysteine. It has only been tested by this group, and it’s unknown if it’s truly effective for weight loss.
Cysteine is an amino acid that is found in many foods. Live Strong.com mentions the effects of adding this ingredient in a supplement:
“Cysteine supplementation is not known to prevent or treat any medical conditions and should be used only under the supervision of your physician”
Therefore, it’s unknown if taking this ingredient without a proper prescription would be safe.
Alpha-lipoic acid is used for fighting inflammation. In certain people it can lead to rashes and blood sugar issues. The combination of these ingredients has an unknown effect, since clinical studies are lacking.
Nopal: A type of cactus grown in parts of Mexico. It’s used to help treat diabetes and high cholesterol. Examine.com adds:
“limited studies at this moment in time suggest it may have therapeutic, but not preventative, potential”
Therefore, it’s not a treatment for healthy people and there aren’t enough studies to show whether or not it’s particularly useful. Possible side effects can include:
Diarrhea, stomach problems, and indigestion.
Headaches, bloating, and increased bowel movements.
Much like other forms of cactus, it has added fiber and nutrients. It’s unknown if in this extract form there’s any nutrients however.
There’s also a caution for diabetics to be careful of this ingredient. It may lower blood sugar too much, which can be dangerous.
Capsicum Extract: This extract is what gives chili peppers their spicy taste.
It’s used to help raise metabolism, and to reduce pain. It has only been shown to be mildly effective for weight loss.
Chromium Picolinate: This important mineral helps regulate many important body functions. It’s found naturally in many foods. When supplemented, it can potentially lead to side effects that include:
Blooddisorders, liver or kidney damage, and headaches.
Dizziness, nausea, and skin irritations.
PhenQ Quality Of Ingredients
Many of the ingredients are already found in foods where extra supplementation is not necessary. Then there are additives like nopal and capsicum which are only minimally effective.
One patented ingredient is a-lacy, which is intended to be the main reason for fat loss. The company even cites some clinical studies which were conducted by the makers of this ingredient. When researching the 2 ingredients it’s made up of, it was revealed that alpha-lipoic acid is only decent for weight loss if at all, while cysteine may produce side effects in supplement form.
The other issue with this blend of ingredinets is the unknown amounts of caffeine. Without being able to see how much caffieen is added, it’s unknown if it will produce safe effects. Taking unknown amounts of caffeine is potentially a serious health risk. There’s no way for caffeine sensitive people to make their own judgment on this diet pill. Caffeine is also not a particularly effective weight loss ingredient, as the body quickly creates a tolerance.
A 30 day supply sells directly from the manfaucturer for $69.95. This can be broken down to a daily serving costing $2.31.
Many of these ingredients are often found in other diet pills, and they’re all cheap additives. Ingredients like caffeine anhydrous, l-carnitine fumurate, nopal, capsicum extract, and piperine can easily be replaced for whole foods.
None of these ingredients are particularly difficult or costly to source. For the price offered, there’s not enough added to help suggest potent weight loss is possible. There is a major clinical study offered, but this study was performed by a company who makes the ingredient in question.
The additives in this are greatly overpriced. Many of them can be replaced with whole foods, and in supplement form some of these can actually raise the risk for many side effects.
Returns are only offered for unopened products, and within 60 days. The owners are self-described as an online retailer that focuses on marketing and business plans.
They fail to mention whether or not they make wholesome ingredients, or what their manufacturing practices are. No information exists about how they treat customers, or if they provide good customer service. The main focus is on marketing.
They also pay people to help market their brands; this is likely the reason why there are blogs which redirect back to the website.
Customer Opinions of PhenQ
Here are some reviews from online customers:
“have experienced several of the side effects… Nausea, constipation ,and anxiety being the most prevelant”
“side effects are not worth it”
“I would caution anyone”
There aren’t many legitamite reviews available online. There are some blogs who claim that they have lost weight with this ingredient, but they don’t seem legitamtie. Much of the time they reroute back to the front page to try and sell this diet pill.
It’s clear that these people are being payed by the website to leave a positive review. The only certified review came from unsatisfied users. The negative reviews for this brand are often the same kinds of reviews you’ll read about in stimulant heavy brands.
Before making a final decicsion on PhenQ it’s important to look at the ingredients, the customer reviews, and what the company offers in terms of a return. No returns are offered on opened products, and there’s no way to determine the total caffeine content. Many of the ingredients are either cheap to find elsewhere, or they have not been proven to help with weight loss. Customer reviews are limited, but they’re all extremely negative with people experiencing symptoms.
Absolute waste of time and money. I don’t usually post reviews but I just wanted to put this out there. This product did none of what it claimed to do. There was no increase in energy, no change in appetite and definitely no weight loss. Don’t waste your money.
I’m not sure if the people who reviewed here actually did exercise and eat healthy, but I got my Phenq a week ago and with healthy eating and exercise I have already lost 3kg and 13.5cm all over. I walk around the block, do a 7minute workout and Phenq help to reduce my cravings. The only bad experience I have with it is that I feel more irritated and moody. I read alot of reviews stating that people get nauseous but do they eat something before they take the pill? My opinion is that it’s working for me and I must say their customer service so far was great. I’m sorry to hear about the other people who it hadn’t worked for.
Just a waste of money. Website glitches on ordering so you get quadruple the amount ordered and the extra are at full price. Send them back and, hello, sorry we have not received them back and as they’re not returned by the due date you don’t get any money back. Plus the stuff is useless. Doesn’t do a damn thing. Just another rip off website.
I’m only on day 2 I went to the gym my 1st day on Phen Q ( I felt like I had a little more energy)
I didn’t eat crazy. However day 2 I had 4episodes of diarrhea ( I did drink a lot of water on Saturday but not a lot today) I didn’t eat anything crazy. I work tomorrow so I won’t be taking another dose. I have to do some more research on Phen Q first.
I’m on day 3 and down 4lbs. Maybe it’s a fluke, I don’t know. I’ve had more every but not jittery energy. No side affects that I’ve noticed. So far so good for me.
