Saxenda is a weight loss prescription drug offered in an injectable pen meant to trick the brain into thinking it’s full. This works as a daily tool that may potentially stabilize blood sugar and can help users receive fewer calories, leading to better eating habits.
Similar to other prescription weight loss drugs, it is only recommended for people with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more if there is a condition related to obesity. Many considerations need to be taken into account before using this, and it is only available through the recommendation of a healthcare practitioner.
We make it our duty to find out what brands are the best for weight loss. Sletrokor was one such supplement which of this year is the best all natural supplement available. We’ve reviewed it in full and found out what makes it unique, and what kinds of ingredients are used which can sustain weight loss progress.

Liraglutide: The sole active ingredient in Saxenda which acts as a hormone for metabolism known as GLP-1. It binds together to help reduce blood sugar levels which is naturally produced by the body when processing food, and help to slowly intake nutrients from food.

For a full 24 hour period after intake it can help:
- Reduce blood triglycerides.
- Reduced appetite which can lead to weight loss.

After a detailed analysis of many weight loss brands we were able to determine what the ten best are of the year.
Many health concerns do exist and in clinical studies it has shown the potential for symptoms, which is why the official website expresses caution over the casual intake of Saxenda.
One study on rats showed a great increase of thyroid tumors, and this can cause long-term thyroid cancer. There was also a large amount of patients who were hospitalized for pancreatic related issues when using drugs like this. Because of this a watchdog group known as Public Citizen has called for the FDA to ban this ingredient. The official Saxenda website also adds that:
“Serious side effects may happen”
“Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer”
They also say that the following side effects are possible:
- Low blood sugar, pancreatic inflammation, and allergic reactions.
- Depression leading to thoughts of suicide, increased heart rate, and kidney failure.
Disodium Phosphate Dihydrate: Inorganic compound added to food to help regulate pH levels and to prevent caking. It can also be used as a laxative.
Phenol: Highly corrosive organic compound which can lead to chemical burns if not properly handled. This is used as an antiseptic, paint stripper, and to prepare many kinds of goods.

SAXENDA QUALITY OF INGREDIENTS
Many considerations have to be considered and really only a medical practitioner can determine for certain if this would be a suitable option for an obese person. Your BMI has to be at a certain amount, and there must be serious safety considerations considered.
There are many published potential side effects including organ damage, cancer, and other complications which have been exposed. A long list of commonly seen symptoms is outlined by Drugs.com which would be too long to list in this review. It includes some of the following:
- Bloody urine, lower back pain, and bladder pain.
- Headache, fatigue, and shivering.
- Vomiting, loss of appetite, and general discomfort.
It may help provide a sense of fullness but this does not mean that weight loss is guaranteed. Consumers still have to watch out for any serious symptoms as well as cut calories and eat the right foods. This is why the official website advises to use this alongside a controlled calorie diet and an exercise regimen; it’s not a cure-all that is going to lead to weight loss on its own.
We’ve selected the ten best supplements that can help produce weight loss results.
THE PRICE AND QUALITY OF SAXENDA
Prices can vary and some consumers who have health insurance can receive a discounted co-pay rate. After reviewing many personal reviews from consumers, the price can vary at a full monthly rate without insurance for up to $3,214.10.
Drugs.com also says that a 12 use unit cost $1,213.60 at this time. This can vary however on location and where it is purchased from. A prescription is required however so it may not be accessible to all.
They key active ingredient may contribute to an increased sense of fullness but it’s still important for the user to diet and exercise. There’s also the major risk involved which can be very dangerous and may lead to long-term issues.
This is a high price to pay for something that still requires a lot of additional work by consumers. This is much more so than any other kind of supplement or drug sold for weight loss results.

BUSINESS OF SAXENDA
Novo Nordisk Inc. owns this brand and they are available for contact using the following:
Phone Number: (609) 987-5800
Address: 800 Scudders Mill Road
Plainsboro, NJ 08536
Email: Contact form is provided.
This pharmaceutical company is based out of Denmark but they do have offices in the US. A few controversies appeared first in 2024 for failing to mention the side effects of a drug made with the same sole active ingredient in Saxenda, Liraglutide.
A United States Department of Justice investigation into the lack of information given to the FDA about the raised cancer risk was another controversy. They ended up paying $58.7 million to stop the probe into their company. These 2 major issues highlight the fact that the company tried to keep the potential side effects under wraps, which speaks volumes of how they aren’t upfront to consumers.
Thankfully now Saxenda comes with a full page on their website all about the potential inherent risks, including the possibility for thyroid cancer and organ failure.
After examining many supplements made to support weight loss, our review experts were able to pinpoint which were the best.
CUSTOMER OPINIONS OF SAXENDA
Provided are some reviews sourced online:
“lost some pounds but the nausea so a bit strong. Expensive at $500 a month”
“Far too expensive for the lack of effects, I made sure to cut calories and stat using the treadmill and only lost a few pounds”
“Really bad vomiting for almost a week long period this is too much for me”
“Happy with it I lost some pounds and I didn’t exercise but it does make me feel very tired all day starting as soon as I use it”
Many side effects were quite common and consumers often had to deal with serious nausea, fatigue, weakness, and general unease.
There was a mix of people who said it was worth the side effects, and others who said it made it far too difficult to enjoy life and to live regularly. Because of this it seems that symptoms are likely to be experienced even if used as directed.
The best weight loss supplements we’ve reviewed this year are outlined in this easy to read top 10 list.
CONCLUSION – DOES SAXENDA WORK?
There’s likely to be some kind of effect with Saxenda, whether or not it will be beneficial is hard to tell. There’s been an alarming amount of side effects experienced by consumers, and many said they would not use it due to it making life more difficult. It’s also quite expensive, with a near $3,000 price tag each month if bought without health insurance. The company has also had a controversial history, paying out a major penalty for hiding potential symptoms which could occur from the sole active ingredient. You’d have to get a doctor’s prescription, make sure to include diet and exercise, and watch out for any of the serious potential side effects including organ damage and thyroid cancer.

My wife has been on saxenda she has shown sign of mood swings could it be related.she also had blood in her urine recently?
No. Saxenda does not affect mood swings at all….The loss of an appetite WILL affect a person’s mood, in the short term (a few weeks), until the body gets used to the change in state.
I’ve been using Saxenda since March 18 2018. I’ve managed to lose 21.6 lbs without side effects as for cost,it costs $395 a month but my insurance will pay 80% needles are another $40 for 3 months
Hi, Just wanted to know did you have to use Phentermine for 3mos before you could use Saxenda? Thank you.
Go to the website and only pay 25.00 and the needles are free with the coupon.
where are you getting it for $395?
I have been on Saxenda for 7 months, I have lost 25 lbs, hitting my goal weight, with little to no side effects. The biggest side effect has been constipation. It decreases my appetite and makes me feel full quicker. I do exercise 5 to 6 days a week. I think Saxenda is awesome!
Took this for 2 1/2 weeks with absolutely no problem except for mild nausea that was easily controlled with antinausea meds. Then, I got so, so sick – horrific sulfur tasting burps, nausea that meds wouldn’t touch and the uncontrollable diarrhea. I haven’t taken Saxenda in 3 days and the diarrhea is still completely debilitating – out of control unless I take Imodium. Wakes me at night… I am pushing fluids just to stay hydrated and eating very little to try and let my gut settle down. Starting to feel like I will never feel good again.
Overall, just for me and my personal experience, this drug was the worst mistake I have ever made.
I started taking saxenda back in march of this year 2018. I got to the 2. Something but couldn’t tolerate 3. I had to stop taking it in june because i noticed that my vision became blurry really tired and horse with thorat and voice for a month and all of these were side affects. I can truly say it was worth the side effects because i lost more weight with saxenda than my 2nd revision gastric by pass. I started back taking it in july this month making me tired again. My medicine was free no charge i met my deductible with insurance.
I have been diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome due to severe Insulin and Leptin resistance . No matter how hard you exercise or how strict your Diet is… you won’t loose ANYTHING!!!!!
Saxenda was literally my last hope! I am on Week 3 on 1.8 ml and yes there are Side- effects. A good amount of nausea sporadically during the day without me eating. A reduction in energy and it definitely kills my appetite. So I am eating small meals during the day, my diet is already strict and I’m exercising 5 to 10 minutes with weights and do my daily walking/hiking between two and 4 miles. Before Saxenda I was not able to lose 1 ounce or 1 inch with the same exercise regiment for over 1 Year! Like I mentioned before I’m starting my third week and I am already almost 5 pounds down this is huge for me since I have been struggling for over a year with no results. I will continue, since it is the only drug that has showing me positive results and I will stop after three months, since my Insurance refuses to cover this drug. My doctor and I believe that it will kickstart my insulin and leptin resistance and hopefully desensitize my body.
Sore throat and very sleepy should I stop taking this medication
