Prostex is an amino-acid based prostate health formula designed to help men improve their urinary performance. It’s advertising says that it can help men that are suffering from benign prostate hyperplasia (BHP) or chronic prostatitis (CP) to reduce the severity of their symptoms.

This may include helping men take fewer trips to the bathroom, improve the ease and comfort of their urination, and reduce instances of leakage and loss of control. It may also have long term benefits for prostate health including reducing the rate of its growth over time and reducing the chances of developing cancer of the prostate.

The product that our experts believe offers users the best chances of reducing prostate inflammation, irritation, and swelling is Prostatrinex. It has a potent combination of herbs, amino acids, and core vitamins, minerals and essential trace elements that work to provide multiple forms of prostate and urinary support. How Does Prostex Work?

Prostex does not have a typical formula for a prostate health supplement. Instead of using helpful herbs like saw palmetto or pygeum, or basic vitamins and essential trace elements like B6, E, and zinc, Prostex uses only a combination of three amino acids: alanine, glycine, and glutamine.

Amino acids are some of the fundamental building blocks of the body. They are used in the construction of the different protein chains that make up the body, and different types of aminos are critical to the proper functioning of the various systems and functions of the body.

Glycine is the simplest amino acid, as it has the smallest molecular structure, and it is the second most prevalent amino in the body. It also helps with food processing and blood sugar regulation, and is involved in the building of muscles, hormone regulation, and skin health.

Glutamine, also sometimes listed as L-Glutamic acid, is used by the body for creatine production, insulin and blood sugar function, and for helping to prevent ammonia buildup in the body. It plays a critical role in neurotransmission, and has also been shown to have antioxidant, antibacterial, and antitoxic properties. Prostate fluid’s concentration of glutamic acid is very high, and it is one of the most important chemicals for core prostate functionality.

Alanine is also found in high concentrations in the prostate, and while not technically considered and “essential” amino acid it is critical to a number of basic biological functions. This includes kidney function, blood sugar and insulin management, and immune function.

Alanine and glutamine in particular have been shown to have a direct, beneficial effect on prostate health. They can be especially helpful to men for reducing the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), chronic prostatitis (PC), and other forms of prostate irritation and enlargement.

One important note for potential users is that the way these amino acids are consumed can greatly affect the way that they are absorbed by the body. For optimal uptake, other amino acids – including any foods with protein in them – should be avoided for 90-120 minutes both before and after the consumption of alanine, glutamine, or glycine. Failure to do so can cause them to bond with other amino structures and may reduce the body’s ability to fully utilize their nutrients.

Potential Benefits of Prostex

Prostex uses a very short list of ingredients, however the ones that they do choose to include are thought to be among the more useful additives for prostate health overall. They are also all the same category of ingredient, which limits both the percentage of men that it will be useful for, as well as the extent of its potency for those men.

Generally, our team of experts likes to see a product provide some level of zinc, copper, selenium, and basic vitamins, as these are also needed by the prostate in order to maintain optimal performance levels. They also strongly recommend a number of other traditionally successful ingredients that Prostex ignores, including saw palmetto, pygeum, quercetin, lycopene, and many others.

Men whose prostate issues are caused by certain types of illnesses or nutritional deficiencies will not see a dramatic benefit from taking Prostex, nor will men who already get enough amino acids in their diet. That said, these three aminos are all necessary for proper prostate function and have been shown to have some benefits for prostate health, even when taken on their own.

They have been shown to potentially slow or even reverse the growth of the prostate that happens over time. The effect of this can be restoring men to their previous levels of urinary functionality while also reducing pain and irritation in the region.

Men may find that they have an easier time starting and stopping their flow of urine, and that their stream is stronger and more consistent. They may also find that they are having to use the bathroom less in general, including fewer trips in the middle of the night.

Are There Side Effects of Prostex?

These three amino acids are core-level nutrients that are present in the bodies of almost all humans. The chances that anyone will react negatively to them is very small, and our experts do not have any reservations about recommending them to all readers.

How to Buy Prostex

Frustratingly, the home page for Prostex and their manufacturer Metabolic Products is not currently functional. It is unclear how long it has been down for, or when it will be back to working order, however multiple attempts by our review team to contact both their website and their organization were unsuccessful.

Not only is this not the type of occurrence that is typical for higher-quality companies, it means that it is not possible to order Prostex through their own webpage. Interested customers must go through a third-party distributor online, of which there are several.

Consumers should note, however, that a number of their former retailers have also discontinued sales of Prostex, and so consumers may have to search for active sites that still carry it. There is no information published on these sites about why they stopped their relationship with Metabolic Products.

Sites that still carry Prostex tend to sell it for prices similar to this:

  • 1, 250-count bottle (approximately a two-month supply) of Prostex Prostate Health Formula capsules: $35.95

Even though their 250-count bottle only lasts users for about two months, it is still one of the lower cost prostate health supplements on the market. For some users, Prostex may work best as a supplement to another more complete prostate health product that does not happen to use any amino acids in their blend.

Our Recommendation

Our team of health and wellness experts strongly encourage our readers that are experiencing prostate issues to try using the amino acids alanine, glycine, and glutamine to help them control their symptoms. Alanine and glutamine in particular are needed by the prostate in order to function properly and efficiently, and glycine has antioxidant and antitoxic properties that can help keep the prostate healthy in the long term.

The combination of the three has been shown to help reduce the symptoms of BPH and CP, however, it is not recommended that these three amino acids are the only ingredients in a prostate health product. Utilizing only three ingredients, all of a similar chemical type, unnecessarily limits the effectiveness and potency of Prostex.

A far more effective approach to prostate health supplementation is to combine glutamine, glycine, and alanine with other traditionally effective ingredients like saw palmetto, pygeum, zinc, or any number of other useful additives. As such, our team of experts cannot recommend Prostex as the only prostate health supplement that our readers take.

They are instead encouraged to combine Prostex with another prostate health product that can help provide them with more complete prostate care, or to seek out a different brand of supplement that uses these amino acids as a part of their proprietary blend instead of the only feature of it.

One such supplement is Prostatrinex, which combines glycine, glutamine, and alanine with saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, lycopene, and other top-rated additives for prostate health products. It features one of the most complete ingredients blends on the market, providing the type of core nutrients, prostate support, and urinary symptom care that is needed for optimal potency.

There is generally no need for most Prostatrinex users to take a secondary supplement as it’s blend is both diverse and potent enough to meet the needs of the vast majority of men with everyday prostate health concerns. One Response to Prostex Review

Brian Davis says:

Hi, I am on verapamil for my heart, citalopram for depression, atorvastatin and sitagliptin for my diabetes and humulin 1 injections. I have just started taking prostex. Is that likely to interfere with the other drugs, such as causing higher than my normal blood pressure? Also, can it bring my blood sugar levels down?
I also use Kalms and Glucosamine plus.
I have problems with my urine flow and also my bowel movements and both of these can make me feel bad.
Brian.
