Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel Quality of Ingredients

Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel contains squalane and the antioxidant-rich blueberry extract, but beyond that, we weren’t all that impressed with the rest of the formula.

Why? Well, the formulation is full of a number of minerals and filler ingredients. The minerals—silica, malachite, titanium dioxide, alumina and mica—they do have a purpose; to reflect light away from the face, but they likely won’t do anything to repair existing skin damage.

The product contains an awful lot of water, glycerin and alcohols. This isn’t necessarily bad for the skin, but users aren’t getting a high concentration of active ingredients with use.

Additionally, it’s worth pointing out that this product contains multiple parabens. Parabens are preservative ingredients that can easily get into the blood stream and have been linked to serious conditions like breast cancer.

While the carcinogenic effects of parabens need to be further explored to determine the risk of potential health risks, many consumers prefer to avoid them altogether.

Based on the formula alone, we don’t feel that this is the best anti-aging product on the market. It’s not potent enough to excuse the presence of potential toxins and doesn’t contain any potent antiaging components.

There are no retinoids or peptides in this blend, there are no AHAs. There are limited sources of, this seems like a waste of money.

This product is, unfortunately, prescription only. The reason for this is, it contains hydroquinone, a topical skin bleaching agent. Skin bleaching products are frequently abused by users who attempt to lighten their face or body with products designed to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, age spots or large freckles. Hydroquinone may cause some irritation with use.

The Price and Quality of Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel

Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel is sold exclusively through Obagi partners. The official website makes it clear that they do not approve of third-party sales and do not give website visitors the option of buying direct.

The Obagi sites goes so far as to list out all of the companies that are currently selling their products illegally.

Product information is limited to a few pictures of their various product lines and there no detailed descriptions of the eye gel or the cream or anything else.

We found an official product label through an unauthorized Amazon listing that has been removed.

Because of the restrictions, we don’t know how much Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel is sold for, but we do know that potential consumers must reach out to a dermatologist partner in their area to access these products legally.

After doing some research, it looks like there are a number of sites selling counterfeit Obagi products—and customers have reported negative reactions with use—itching, burning eyes, etc.

Business of Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel

Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel is made by the company, Obagi Medical Products, which is owned by Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

Here is their contact information, along with some background information:

Address: Obagi Medical Products, Inc.,

50 Technology Drive, Irvine, CA 92618

Obagi is a global skincare brand, marketed exclusively toward those in the professional skin care space—dermatologists, medical spas, plastic surgeons and more. This line aims to address acne, hyperpigmentation, aging and other issues, but the website never delves into the specifics for any of the products offered.

Because the language on the official Obagi site is so vague, we never get to learn more about the Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel formula or how much the product costs. While we do understand that this company is trying to keep their business within the confines of a specific industry, it does interested parties a disservice.

We don’t doubt that Obagi is a high-quality brand that consumers can count on, but we don’t have enough information available to determine whether Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel is a good product.

We did like that this company has taken the time to inform users about the risk of receiving a counterfeit product. Counterfeit beauty products have become increasingly common these days and are made with unregulated ingredients.

When consumers order Obagi products (or any type of makeup or skin care product) from an unauthorized source, they run the risk of having an allergic reaction or worse, chemical burns.

That said, Obagi may do better in fighting its counterfeiting problem by making their product line more accessible.

Customer Opinions of Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel

Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel has some reviews across a few platforms; Amazon, Overstock, Jet and more. The problem is, we believe these products may be counterfeit. Several

users have reported having a reaction to these products, something that is all too common with fake skin care and makeup products.

Unfortunately, these comments do not represent the Obagi line of products and we still don’t have a good sense of whether or not the authentic version of this product is effective.

Because we don’t have access to any legitimate reviews from actual customers, it’s hard to know if this product runs the risk of irritating skin or worse. Counterfeit beauty products pose a significant risk to consumers and have been linked to things like serious burns or infections.

Since this product is available exclusively through dermatologists, it’s hard to find many comments touting the use of Obagi products of any kind. That may be an indication that it’s not great quality, or it may have more to do with the fact that this company doesn’t do a whole lot of marketing.

Conclusion – Does Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel Work?

Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel doesn’t have many reviews posted about its efficacy, so we can’t say whether or not it works at all. Based on the formula, we’d be inclined to believe that there’s something to be desired.

The formula consists primarily of water, alcohol and preservatives, though the active ingredients present are squalane and blueberry extract. Additionally, the product relies on a number of light reflective minerals to yield a brightening effect—which in some cases, may be irritating to the eyes and surrounding areas.

Obagi’s business model relies on exclusivity, which has led to a rampant supply of counterfeit products. We can understand that the company wants to limit itself to working with certified skin professionals, but it would be nice if consumers could learn more about the product line by visiting the website.

Based on the information we’ve collected it seems that Obagi Elastiderm Eye Gel isn’t a great choice for someone looking for an eye cream that provides meaningful antiaging benefits. It doesn’t contain the full spectrum of skin-repairing ingredients you’d find in competing products (i.e. peptides, retinol, glycolic acid). Plus, we don’t know the price.

Kremovage works best for rejuvenating the under eye area due to its unique ingredient profile. This eye cream was designed to provide maximum hydration, along with structural cell repair at every level.
