Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair Ingredients and Side Effects

Below, we’ve listed the active ingredients that give Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair its benefits. Here is a quick look:

Butcher’s Broom ProVitamin B5 Arnica Gingko Biloba
Grapeseed Extract Wild Yam Retinyl Palmitate Cucumber Extract

Butcher’s Broom: Butcher’s broom is a gentle herb used to reduce the appearance of dark circles and enlarged pores.

Arnica: Arnica reduces inflammation with use and may improve the appearance of age spots and broken blood vessels. This herb is thought to help improve the appearance of dark circles, too.

Pro-Vitamin B5: This vitamin helps strengthen the skin’s natural barrier, improving moisture retention, elasticity and softness.

Grapeseed Extract: Grapeseed extract contains vitamins C and E, antioxidants that promote cell turnover, moisture and protection from free radicals.

Wild Yam: Wild yam may act as a natural wrinkle eraser. It’s rich in a substance known as diosgenin, which counteracts the loss of collagen, helping maintain a youthful appearance with use. Other benefits include reduced hyperpigmentation and improved radiance.

Gingko Biloba: Gingko biloba is also rich in antioxidants, making it a useful ingredient for combatting the visible signs of aging with use.

Cucumber: Cucumber is rich in antioxidants and caffeic acid—making it a soothing ingredient for fighting irritation and reducing swelling around the eye area.

Retinyl Palmitate: An ester of vitamin A, retinyl palmitate is a less potent form of pure retinol. It still provides a similar set of benefits, including diminished fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improved tone and texture.

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair Quality of Ingredients

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair contains several different types of skin-restorative properties. It’s made from several sources of antioxidants, wild yam, gingko, and more—which provide a soothing effect, in addition to protection from incoming free radical damage.

Wild yam, typically used for treating menopausal symptoms looks like an especially promising anti-aging tool—boosting collagen and improving radiance with use.

We like the looks of the active ingredients and can see why consumers might be attracted to this product. Dermalogica is a favorite brand with various professional-grade skincare solutions—and this one stands to hydrate and repair—without causing much regarding irritation.

Unfortunately, this product may contain some ingredients like urea and parabens (we’ve seen different information on different websites regarding the formula) that users may consider a deal breaker.

EDITOR’S TIP: Combine this product with a proven eye cream such as Kremovage for better results.

The Price and Quality of Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair is available through the company’s stores, as well as through a range of online channels like Ulta, Nordstrom, and the Derm Store. The normal price on this product is $58 for a container with 0.5 ounces of product.

Amazon and Overstock also sell this product, often at a discount, but they may not be authorized sellers. Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair was made by a company that prefers to have consumers get a consultation before trying the product on their own. This doesn’t mean consumers can’t buy this product from authorized sources and no contact with Dermalogica. Rather, Dermalogica restricts the amount of retailers they do business with.

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair isn’t the most expensive eye solution on the market, but it still might be seen as an investment for some potential shoppers.

Dermalogica is a company that has forgone any fancy packaging and over-the-top marketing efforts in favor of a bare bones approach to skincare.

This company makes a variety of professional-grade products designed to address a long list of skin concerns from acne to aging and everything in between.

In addition to creating this line of products, Dermalogica has several stores across the globe—where users can get consultations from trained professionals.

This company also is a huge proponent of women entrepreneurs. They partner with low-income or otherwise disadvantaged women—training them for careers in the skincare industry.

Based on our look at the website, as well as at customer reviews across multiple channels, Dermalogica is a beloved brand trying to do some good in the world. There are some problematic ingredients present in some of the products—but at the same time—users have reported some great results.

Customer Opinions of Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair has mostly positive reviews. We looked at several platforms—Amazon, Ulta, Derm Store, and the company’s own site–

With that in mind, we’ve looked at some reviews from consumers who have used products featuring Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair, with varying results.

Here are some of the comments we found posted online:

“I absolutely love this eye cream. It’s very moisturizing without being greasy, and the results are pretty darn fabulous. I will say, the price seems a little high for me, but it’s worth the splurge.”

“Not entirely sold on this product yet, but my under-eye area feels moisturized. The product isn’t as ‘intensive’ as advertised, and you’ll need something heavier at night. But, it’s a good day cream.”

“Not sure yet. I already paid for it, so I’ll use it until it runs out, but so far, all it seems to do is provide a little bit of moisture with application. Wish it did more or contained SPF. Probably won’t buy again.”

“I felt like this product was irritating. My eyes burned shortly after application. Tried giving this item a few chances, but in the end, I had to get rid of it. Sensitive eyes, beware.”

Reviews suggested that Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair is a decent daytime eye cream. Users reported feeling that the product was a good tool for hydrating without added weight and that it worked well under makeup.

That said, the product copy makes it sound as though consumers can expect a rich, creamy restorative formula, while this one is more of a lightweight product with some vitamin and antioxidant properties. Some people were expecting something with a different texture and were slightly disappointed.

One thing worth pointing out is, many of the reviews on Amazon suggest that product being sold through this channel is fake. We’d advise purchasing directly from the manufacturer or an authorized retailer. It seems Amazon does not have this distinction.

Conclusion – Does Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair Work?

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair could be considered a high quality product in a number of ways. For example, it contains a long list of ingredients known for their protective natural or their moisture-retention properties. Between the long list of antioxidants, plus squalane, hyaluronic acid, soothing cucumber and rosewater—it looks promising.

But, we didn’t love the formula altogether. Between the potentially irritating urea and the potentially dangerous parabens, we’re not sure why Dermalogica has opted to taint this product to a certain extent.

Based on the formula, there are a lot of pros and a few cons—some consumers truly don’t care about the potential risks associated with an eye cream—and that’s okay. We just feel that users should be aware of the full content of anything they ultimately will be putting on their face.

In the case of Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair there’s surely something to be gained. But, there are cleaner formulations out there, many of them with lower price points.

According to our panel of reviewers, Kremovage is the most effective product for combatting the visible signs of aging like age spots, crow’s feet, and loss of collagen.  This eye cream features a well-rounded approach to skincare–with squalane, plant extracts, peptides, and more.

Kremovage has been tested extensively to ensure it brings the most potent formula to consumers without any negative effects. Read more about the benefits of Kremovage–see how it stacks up against the competition by clicking here.
