Retinyl Palmitate: A form of concentrated vitamin A. Vitamin A is required for optimal health and wellness as it plays a roll in a number of different bodily functions, and is especially helpful for the skin.

The skin lightening effects that made it popular in the previous centuries have also shown to occasionally lead an uneven or mottled skin tone. Some patches may become discolored while others remain unchanged, and the changes can include bleaching, redness, and brown, over pigmented patches as well. Other side effects that may be associated with lye include:

- Ulcerations
