Olay ProX Eye Complex Ingredients and Side Effects

Olay ProX Eye Complex doesn’t appear to have an official website associated with the product. One site, mylavieeyeserum.com has included a substantial amount of information, including a vague ingredient list.

While we never get to see an official label or learn more about the specific ingredients used to make this product, here’s a look at what you may be able to find in Olay ProX Eye Complex:

Niacinamide Peptides Citric Acid
Lactic Acid Caffeine

Niacinamide: Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, is a useful solution for restoring aging or damaged skin. This ingredient is frequently used to combat wrinkles and fine lines, as well as dullness and uneven skin tone.

Peptides: Short chains of amino acids that join together to make proteins, peptides can help fill in the gaps caused by the loss of collagen—improving tone, texture, and the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Citric Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid used in skincare, citric acid works to exfoliate the skin and promote cell regrowth.

Lactic Acid: Another alpha-hydroxy acid, lactic acid is a gentle exfoliant, used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, treat acne and prevent breakouts.

Caffeine: Caffeine is rich in antioxidants and works to stimulate blood flow when applied to the skin, eliminating the appearance of some dark circles. Additionally, caffeine has a diuretic effect—reducing puffy eyes.

Olay ProX Eye Complex Quality of Ingredients

Olay ProX Eye Complex contains some excellent ingredients, but the formula as a whole doesn’t look so good. This product includes several types of alcohol, silicones, and parabens. We’re not saying that the presence of filler ingredients is bad as a general rule—as they work to give the product the desired consistency, but the fillers and preservatives are present in far more significant numbers than the good stuff.

This product contains cyclopentasiloxane and dimethecone—silicones that work to smooth out the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as imperfections like large pores. These ingredients aren’t considered dangerous—but they don’t provide any lasting benefit—making this product more like a concealer. Silicones can clog pores, which may lead to acne. Additionally, there is evidence that silicones may be harmful to marine life (as per the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences).

More concerning, however, is the presence of methyl, ethyl, and propyl parabens. These preservatives are considered to be a moderate to high risk by the Environmental Working Group—and have been linked to certain cancers.

Overall, this eye cream doesn’t seem to provide enough positive effects to outweigh the presence of so many unsavory components.

The Price and Quality of Olay ProX Eye Complex

Olay ProX Eye Complex is available directly from Olay’s online store for $42.49 per 0.5-ounce container. The product is designed by the Global Derm Alliance, which may elevate the product to some extent.

Users may also find this product through Ulta and Sephora, RiteAid, Walmart, Amazon, and Target. The price for this item falls between $35 and $44 per unit. Olay ProX Eye Complex seems a little overpriced considering the contents of the formula.

Being a brand associated with affordable drug store solutions, we were a little surprised that the list price of this item is over $40. It’s still more affordable than a lot of competing anti-aging solution, but it seems a little high considering the ratio of filler ingredients to active ones, and the fact that this product contains so many components that many users find troublesome.

Business of Olay ProX Eye Complex

Olay ProX Eye Complex is made by the company, Olay. Olay has been in business for several decades, and was long known for its all-purpose moisturizer, Oil of Olay. The company has changed the name to Olay and is now part of the Proctor and Gamble portfolio, making all kinds of products from shampoos and body washes to anti-aging solutions.

We like the overall e-commerce experience that Olay has created. The website features a long list of skin solution, all with detailed explanations for how each item works. The site has a personal skin care advisor, where visitors can upload a selfie and receive an analysis.  In short, Olay does a good job engaging customers and has created a solid user experience.

Even though we don’t love the formula of Olay ProX Eye Complex, we like the detail included on the official product page. The ingredient label is front and center, as is the science behind how this item stands to benefit the skin.

Customer Opinions of Olay ProX Eye Complex

Olay ProX Eye Complex has a range of reviews associated with its use. Because this product is sold through so many channels, we were fortunate enough to have access to a lot of user feedback.

Here are some of the reviews we found:

“It’s easy to use, non-greasy and it has a nice smell. That said, I have not seen any noticeable results from using this product and it’s been about a month. I don’t think I’d buy this again, but it does feel nice.”

“I don’t love this formula, but Olay is within my price range and I’m not quite ready to invest top dollar in my skincare routine. Overall, it’s a decent moisturizer—not the best, but it’ll do.”

“This product is pretty good; for the price. At this point, I’m not willing to fork over hundreds of dollars for an eye cream, and this does seem to hydrate and repair the skin as it claims.”

“Although I liked this product when I first started using it, the love quickly wore off. I didn’t see much of a change in puffiness or the fine lines around my eyes. I keep getting coupons, so I’ll probably stick with it.”

Most of the reviewers felt that this was a decent product for the price. We didn’t see many comments that said this product was useful in repairing skin or improving dark circles and puffiness, but it did provide some moisturizing benefits and was an effective tool for reducing the look of fine lines when applied.

Users liked that the product was relatively affordable and worked well when layered under makeup.

However, we didn’t get the impression anyone was blown away by the quality of this item. It does provide some decent benefits—and doesn’t seem to be linked with any adverse effects, but it’s priced higher than your average drugstore cream and doesn’t seem to come with the potent formula you’ll get with most well-reviewed mid-range creams.

Conclusion – Does Olay ProX Eye Complex Work?

Olay ProX Eye Complex is made by a company with a good reputation. They’ve been upfront about the contents of their skincare solutions and feature a number of links to studies conducted and back up the science behind each item.

But, just because Olay is transparent and does a good job with customer service, doesn’t mean this is a good product. The formula features far too many ingredients that may cause harm to users. The low ratio of active ingredients to inactive ones suggests that product may not be especially potent. And besides, that may have adverse effects on the environment, and users’ health.

Olay ProX Eye Complex isn’t all that affordable either—considering the formula. If it were made from more nourishing ingredients, the $40 price tag would seem like a good deal. However, consumers seem to be getting a bad deal. There are cleaner formulas made from plant extracts, along with retinols or peptides within this same price point.

After researching countless eye creams, we’ve found that Kremovage performs most consistently–providing the wrinkle reduction, lift, and brightening effects users look for in an eye cream.

Kremovage has been tested for safety and quality–with that in mind, shoppers can trust this product performs as advertised. See our website to learn more about how Kremovage performed in product trials.
