Dermalogica Total Eye Care Ingredients and Side Effects
This product contains only a handful of anti-aging ingredients. There’s not much in here that suggests this item is particularly useful in repairing skin cells or firming loose skin. In fact, this formula suggests that the name, Dermalogica Total Eye Care is akin to false advertising. Here is a look at some of the ingredients used to make this formula:
Lactic Acid |
Bitter Orange |
Titanium Dioxide |
Meadow Sweet |
Lactic Acid: A common alpha-hydroxy-acid (AHA), lactic acid is used to exfoliate the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and fight breakouts.
Titanium Dioxide: Titanium dioxide is used to diffuse light—which visibly reduces the appearance of dark circles under the eye. Additionally, this product is used in sunscreens, offering protection from UV rays.
Meadow Sweet: Meadowsweet is an herb used for its anti-inflammatory effects—as well as its astringent properties. This ingredient is thought to promote wound healing and to treat and prevent acne.
Bitter Orange: Bitter orange is used to cleanse the skin, provide moisture, and reduce the appearance of puffiness under the eyes.
Ironically, bitter orange may actually increase skin’s sensitivity to UV rays.

Dermalogica Total Eye Care Quality of Ingredients
Dermalogica Total Eye Care doesn’t offer much in the way of antiaging ingredients, but it does have the unique benefit for being a low-grade sunscreen with a few extra elements included in the mix.
Titanium dioxide is the first ingredient on the list. It functions as a sunscreen and also works to deflect light away from the eyes—which reduces the appearance of dark circles.
This product might have some potential to be a good preventative treatment for younger people or those who have been blessedly wrinkle-free so far. But, it falls short in a lot of ways.
First of all, there are no actual antiaging ingredients, with the exception of lactic acid. This product could be a well-rounded eye cream, but it fails to include peptides or antioxidants, which would bolster its preventative benefits, as well as repair any existing damage.
The other issue we have with this product is the fact that it contains an awful lot of filler ingredients—parabens, xanthan gum, water, and so on. Most of these items won’t necessarily cause any trouble for the user, but it highlights the fact that users aren’t getting much bang for their buck when they use this cream.
And then we get into the problematic ingredients. For example, this product contains parabens

The Price and Quality of Dermalogica Total Eye Care
Dermalogica Total Eye Care is available direct from Dermalogica brick and mortar stores, as well as online for $52 for a tube containing 0.5 ounces.
Additionally, this product can be found through Ulta, Amazon and the Derm Store. These retailers offer the product at the same price, though Amazon currently has it marked down to $34.
Given the ingredient profile, we’re not sure this product is the best value. It seems Dermalogica is a good brand that puts considerable thought into their products, but this particular product isn’t exactly worth $52.

Business of Dermalogica Total Eye Care
Dermalogica Total Eye Care was made by the company Dermalogica. Here’s a little more about this business and what they do:
Phone: 800-345-2761
Dermalogica is a no-frills skin care company that has been around since 1986. The site is really informational, featuring reviews, product-specific Q&As and more.
What we liked about Dermalogica is, they’ve put together a program for women entrepreneurs—offering access to education, loans and vocational training to women and girls worldwide.
The company has been operating The International Dermal Institute, a global network of aestheticians, or skin therapists, focused on offering skin care solutions around the globe. While the company has standalone stores and encourages customers to purchase from certified therapists, they still have the ability to purchase from Ulta, the Derm Store and other retailers.
Customer Opinions of Dermalogica Total Eye Care
Dermolagica Total Eye Care is available on many platforms with a deep reviewer base. We were lucky to have access to so many comments, as it gave us some insight into how customers felt about using this product.
Reviews seemed to be mixed, but a little better than we were expecting. This product doesn’t have the most impressive formula, but people really liked that this eye cream contains sunscreen.
“I’m in my early 30s and starting to see some crow’s feet. I bought this as a preventative measure, as I never apply sunscreen to the eye area, it’s usually irritating. This stuff never bothers my eyes.”
“Good for rehydrating my eyes. I’m only 26, but look a lot older, this has helped me look more my age. Sun damage can really take a toll, and this is a good extra layer of protection.”
“I bought this specifically for under eye puffiness and regret it big time. This product does nothing for this problem and I need to buy something else. I guess I’m glad it has some minimal sun protection.”
“This is my third time purchasing this product. I really like the results its produced so far, it doesn’t irritate my skin and does a decent job de-puffing the eyes.”
First of all, most of the users who shared their experiences were on the younger end of the spectrum, specifically 20s and 30s. A few people liked that the product could be used as a prevention method and offered some sun protection.
But, there weren’t many glowing reviews beyond that. It seems to yield mixed results when it comes to de-puffing and there were few acknowledgments regarding its use as a wrinkle-reducing solution.
Dermalogica Total Eye Care does not appear to be the total package. It may have some use as a sunscreen and a moisturizer, but there are better, more affordable products out there if that’s what you’re after.
Between sunscreens and serums, here’s a look at the products you should be using on your face to prevent wrinkles.
Conclusion – Does Dermalogica Total Eye Care Work?
Dermolagica Total Eye Care simply isn’t a great solution if you’re looking for the complete package in your eye cream. This product has the benefit of some exfoliation and antiaging though the use of lactic acid, as well as some sun protection, but it seems like too little, especially given that this product typically sells for over $50 a unit.
Dermalogica is a higher end brand specializing in professional grade skin care products. This company seems to have a loyal following and is endorsed by celebrities and influencers. But, we’re not sure it’s “professional” approach to marketing gives it an edge over competing products—rather, it may be used as a means of driving up the price tag.
That said the brand does some good work for women’s issues on a global scale, and they seem to be fairly transparent. The thing is, we just were not at all impressed with the formula used to make Dermalogica Total Eye Care. Between the parabens and absence of active ingredients, we just can’t imagine paying $52 for such a limited range of benefits.
It’s also worth pointing out that this product is really more of a corrective solution and those with dry skin may need to buy an additional moisturizer for best results.
