Now Foods Candida Support Ingredients and Side Effects

Now Foods Candida Support features a range of plant-based elements known for their anti- fungal, bacterial and viral properties. The product aims to wipe out problematic organisms in the body, while allowing healthy intestinal flora to thrive. Here’s a closer look at the individual ingredients:

Caprylic Acid Pau d’Arco Wormwood Garlic
Oregano Oil Black Walnut Olive Leaf Cat’s Claw

Pau d’Arco: Pau d’arco is a tree with bark that may be used medicinally. While it’s safety is unknown, pau d’arco is thought to be effective in treating bacterial, viral and fungal infections ranging from gonorrhea to yeast infections, parasitic worms, and more.

  • Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea and internal bleeding.

Black Walnut: Black walnut is rich in tannins that may act as an anti-inflammatory—reducing pain and swelling with use. Black walnut is thought to provide some defense against parasites, and though not likely, leukemia.

Caprylic Acid: Caprylic acid is a fatty acid found in foods like coconut oil, milk, and palm oil. This ingredient may work to lower blood pressure, and is often used to manage candida due to its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.

Oregano Oil: Oregano may help increase blood flow, kill bacteria, intestinal worms, fungi and viruses.

Wormwood: The wormwood plant is used to increase sexual desire, improve digestion and kill of parasites living in the body.

Wormwood contains a chemical known as thujone, which may cause problems in the brain.

Garlic: Garlic is used to promote immune health, regulate blood pressure, prevent certain cancers and more. Garlic is also thought to treat yeast infections, due to its antifungal properties.

Olive Leaf: Olive leaves contain anti-inflammatory benefits and may help improve the condition of both the cardiovascular and immune systems.

Cat’s Claw: Cat’s claw is a plant used to improve arthritis pain, fight fatigue and protect the immune system from viruses.

Side effects may include dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

Now Foods Candida Support Quality of Ingredients

Now Foods Candida Support is made from all natural herbal ingredients known for their ability to kill unwanted organisms inside the body.

According to the website, Now Foods Candida Support is designed to create a healthy balance of bacteria. That may be true to some extent — they’ve really included almost all of the most common candida fighting herbs — but this product doesn’t offer any probiotic ingredients. Users need probiotics to prevent yeast infections, UTIs, colds, flus, and of course, digestive issues.

One concern we have about Now Foods Candida Support is that it may kill off some of the good bacteria in the body, without providing a much needed replacement.

While this may be a good quality product, this product isn’t really designed for our target audience — menopausal women.

This product is designed for those with candida and it may not be effective should you be experiencing vaginal issues caused by hormone imbalance.

The Price and Quality of Now Foods Candida Support

Now Foods Candida Support isn’t sold through the official company website, which functions more as a catalog and source of information for consumers and retailers alike. But — it is sold through the company’s separate e-commerce channel, now-2-u.com.

The Now website currently offers this product for $19.99 for a bottle containing 90 capsules. The recommended dosing is 2 capsules per day, so this product should last most people about a month and a half.

Potential users who wish to try Now Foods Candida Support may be better off shopping through a third-party channel. Amazon offers a 90-count bottle for $10.88 and a 180-count bottle for $17.40.

Shoppers can also find this product through multiple channels like Walmart, iHerb, Swanson’s Health Products and more.

Now Foods Candida Support is part of Now Foods’ supplement line geared at women’s health concerns. Now Foods has been in business since 1968 and makes a wide range of products from bath and body care to vitamins, minerals and more — all non-GMO and vegetarian.

The official website looks really nice. It’s clean, easy to use and provides users with a lot of useful information extending beyond what they can buy.

The site has several sections dedicated to discussing various health concerns — i.e. why someone might use coconut oil, or which supplements work best for heart health. The site also mentions their “softer” values — corporate social responsibility, charities and more.

In all, we’ve found that the Now Foods website offers consumers a glimpse into what this company stands for, and on a more practical level, what they can get from each supplement.  We like the overall transparency and commitment to detail, especially where supplements and remedies are concerned.

Customer Opinions of Now Foods Candida Support

Now Foods Candida Support has mixed reviews. While many are quite positive, the comments highlighted that this product isn’t quite the right fit for all users.

Additionally, we’re not sure what the reproductive demographic is for most of these users—none of them have explicitly mentioned any vaginal issues caused by menopause.

Here are some of the comments we came across in our research:

“I’ve tried so many different candida products, ranging from the super strong to the not-so-potent. This product unfortunately made me quite sick right off the bat and I couldn’t continue use.”

“This product is a real find. I had started having some issues like brain fog and constipation and this product really worked to clear these things up. Definitely recommend this to others!”

“I’ve been using this product for 2 weeks now and have yet to see any major effects, not even the candida die-off I’ve read so much about. I do feel more energized and my stomach is more cooperative.”

“I have ulcerative colitis and this seemed to do the trick. While I still have difficulties consuming things like fried or spicy foods, this has definitely made my digestive issues much less of a problem.”

Now Foods Candida Support has some positive reviews, but it’s hard to say whether or not this product would be effective in women entering menopause who are seeing a rise in yeast infections, a change in odor or other vaginal concerns.

Based on the reviews, as well as the ingredient profile, this product does not seem to yield any benefits to those who do not have a candida problem.

This may work well for users who actually have candida, but if you aren’t sure whether you do have excess yeast, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor before attempting to treat yourself with a new regimen — natural or not there may be consequences.

Conclusion – Does Now Foods Candida Support Work?

Now Foods Candida Support looks to be a good product. Most reviewers mentioned they thought the product helped them to some extent, though a few people mentioned the candida die-off process made them quite ill.

Now Foods Candida Support truly seems like a decent product. We like the Now Foods website, as well as the company’s commitment to transparency, community support, and above all, quality ingredients.

This product really targets a niche health concern, and we’re not sure it’s quite right for most of our readers. Women going through menopause or perimenopause should discuss their vaginal concerns with a doctor. They may be better off looking for a hormone-balancing product rather than attempting to eliminate internal flora—it may not be necessary.

Femmetrinol is the product our experts most often recommend to those looking for serious menopause relief. A unique blend of herbs work together to help regulate the balance between progesterone and estrogen in the body—hormones responsible for causing the long list of difficult symptoms that emerge during menopause.

Femmetrinol was made in an effort to bring fast relief to menopausal consumers, in the safest, most potent way possible. Check out the full list of ingredients used to make Femmetrinol — click here.

I had a burning in my stomach and slightly nauseous feeling from the first time I used it. But after 2 weeks of use it got much worse and I even had some blood in my stool from intestinal irritation I had to discontinue use. The pain and blood stopped as soon as I stopped using it….Pau D arco can be irritating but I believe it was the oregano oil. I had tried Oregano oil a couple of years ago and forgot that it irritated my stomach and intestines last time also. Maybe my stomach is sensitive but others have said it happened to them as well. There should be a warning on the label stating it could cause upset stomach and intestinal irritation.

Anna says:

I am 54 and have used a variety of NOW products for the reason the aforementioned reasons regarding the company and values. I have been using the Candida Support for the last six months, while also using the NOW brand Probiotics and drink Kombucha to allow the probiotics to flourish. I believe the use of these products, as well as NOW brand Kelp supplement have made me feel great and no problem with menopause. I have an occasional power surge (Hot Flash) but nothing that rises to any discomfort, the flash is here and gone right away only to resurge maybe weeks later. (Very Minimal) I am really pleased with their products, Non-GMO, Dairy Free, Soy Free and GLUTEN FREE, as well as the probiotic strains, being strain verified via of DNA fingerprinting technology. I use to work in a health food store and that is where I discovered their products they are considered one of the Primo products available, sold by a conscientious company that offers lower prices to consumers by eliminating the middleman the sales reps. In closing, I have been using multiple NOW products for the past ten years, being completely satisfied since they are an affordable and quality product. P.S. In regard to the prior review – a suggestion to the user above or future users you may want to cut the dose to one capsule to build a tolerance and then two as your body becomes accustomed to it, or continue to use just one. I have never experienced the symptoms they stated and again, have been using it for the past 6 months or I would have also stopped using the product if experiencing discomfort.
