Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support Ingredients and Side Effects

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is a two-part formulation made from a blend of black cohosh (in both the AM and PM blends), as well as the sleep aids, valerian root and melatonin (PM only). Here’s a quick look at the formula and what users can expect to get when they buy this product:

Black  Cohash Valerian
Melatonin

Black Cohosh: Black cohosh is a medicinal herb long used by Native American tribes to treat skin conditions, inflammation and conditions linked to hormone imbalances.

Black cohosh is a well-known menopause supplement and is thought to reduce hot flashes, balance out moods and treat night sweats more. It may also help maintain bone health in women as they age.

Melatonin: Melatonin is a hormone found naturally inside the body, and its main function in maintaining the internal clock. Melatonin production increases as it gets dark out, signaling to the body when it’s time to sleep.

Valerian: Valerian is an herb that is often used as a sleep aid. This ingredient is thought to act as a sedative and may improve the condition in people with depression or ADHD.

L-Theanine: L-theanine is an amino acid present in green tea and is thought to promote a relaxed, yet focused energy.

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support Quality of Ingredients

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is made from a standard blend of menopause-friendly ingredients, black cohosh, along with valerian, hops flower, melatonin and L-theanine in the PM blend.

Based on the ingredient label alone, the PM blend seems more balanced and better equipped to take on multiple symptoms than its daytime counterpart. Valerian, L-theanine and melatonin are known for their relaxing properties—promoting sleep, while the black cohosh present in the blend reduces the hot flashes and night sweats that interrupt a full night’s sleep.

The daytime blend of Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support really just consists of black cohosh, biotin and calcium — which doesn’t exactly provide the most comprehensive care. The web copy used to describe this product claims the AM blend provides energy to the women taking this product, but it’s not clear how.

Black cohosh, an effective ingredient for providing the body with much needed estrogen isn’t exactly known for being an energy-producing herb. While biotin is known for skin and hair health and calcium, bone support.

One concern we have about Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is one dose provides only 40mg of black cohosh and this is the only ingredient present with a pronounced effect on hormones.

Overall, this might work for some women, but at this point we don’t have enough information available to know how effective this menopause complex really is.

The Price and Quality of Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is not sold through the official company website, though Nature’s Bounty has provided a list of retailers, complete with pricing for consumer convenience.

The product is sold in 60-count boxes — 30 pills for the AM and 30 for PM, and the price ranges from $12-17 per unit. Users can buy this item from Vitacost, iHerb. RiteAid, Jet, Amazon, Walgreens, and CVS — as well as a few smaller online platforms not listed on the Nature’s Bounty site.

Amazon and Jet offer the product at the lowest price, $11.99 and $12.08, respectively.

This product is priced lower than many menopause supplements, but many similar products (i.e. other two-part menopause supplements) offer a more potent formula with a more diverse ingredient profile.

Business of Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is made by the supplements company, Nature’s Bounty. This company makes a range of products, from fish oils to vitamins, minerals and more.

The company has an about us page, but it feels a bit vague. We don’t learn much about the guiding principles driving Nature’s Bounty, aside from a commitment to quality.

The site looks okay. It’s not an e-commerce platform, rather a digital catalog where third-party retailers can learn about the products they may end up selling.

Overall, the information included on the product pages feels a little thin. Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support, for example, features an FAQ section that contains zero information, and the description for the product amounts to nothing more than a couple bullet points, along with a product label.

While users can research individual ingredients on their own, the site would do well to provide more in the way of product education.

Customer Opinions of Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support has mixed reviews. While many are quite positive, the comments highlighted that this product isn’t quite the right fit for all users.

Additionally, we’re not sure what the reproductive demographic is for most of these users — none of them have explicitly mentioned any vaginal issues caused by menopause.

Here are some of the comments we came across in our research:

“This product does really help me sleep! I’ve been taking this menopause product for the past two weeks and am finally catching up on lost sleep. Not sure about the daytime formula, but I’m feeling rested.”

“This product seems like it’s designed to prey on women with menopause symptoms. It doesn’t work, and I felt no difference during the AM or PM. Looking at the ingredients, there’s just not much in here.”

“This product has a really foul smell. It’s near impossible to choke this down, much less take it twice a day. Only was able to give it a week and had yet to see any changes.”

“So far, nothing. But, I saw some good reviews, so the plan is to take the rest of the box and see how it goes. After a week though, my expectations are not too high.”

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support did have a high percentage of positive reviews, but not everyone felt this was an effective product. The amount of women who used the two formulas and were not satisfied was significant.

We’re not sure if there’s an issue with the daytime formula — it’s essentially just black cohosh, or if there were other factors at play.

Based on our look at the ingredients and the formula used to make both parts of the complex, we simply don’t think this product offers much to consumers—black cohosh is the sole ingredient that targets hormones, failing to provide proper balance in those who need more than an estrogen boost.

Conclusion – Does Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support Work?

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support does not have the best reviews. The bad reviews accused the company of trying to prey on women dealing with menopause symptoms or simply claimed the product did little to alleviate discomfort.

Nature’s Bounty Menopause Support is made from a formula that leaves a lot to be desired. The PM formula seems adequate—it’s a sleep aid with black cohosh, so no real complaints there. The problem is the AM formula.

It’s essentially black cohosh, plus a couple of vitamins, which just feels a bit incomplete. Black cohosh is an effective ingredient, but it only addresses estrogen levels. Many women have low progesterone as well, and only tackling one side of the equation isn’t going to reduce all possible symptoms.

Femmetrinol PM is our experts’ top pick for getting a good night’s sleep no matter how bad your hot flashes get. Ingredients like valerian and melatonin join forces with black cohosh to provide women with meaningful rest and relief.

Femmetrinol PM was crafted in a certified lab facility by a team committed to addressing the primary symptoms of menopause with a safe, yet potent blend. Click the link to read more about the benefits of taking a sleep-specific formula like Femmetrinol PM.

I have been taking it for a week and I have seen the difference. I am able to sleep and my hot flashes seem to be getting better. The only thing I don’t like is that the PM pills have a bad smell but it dosent have a bad taste. My Dr. had recommended me to take Estrovera by Metagenics I took does for about 2 weeks and I did not see a difference but with Natures Bounty Menopause I saw a difference with in 3 days.

RENEE says:

I agree with the foul smell. It’s horrible. The benefits seems to out weight the smell, but It makes me question putting it in my mouth every time lol

Rosie says:

What is that foul smell in the PM pills???
