WonderSlim Ingredients and Side Effects

Here are the full ingredients to their powdered Chocolate Cream shake:

Calcium Caseinate Fructose Natural and Artificial Flavors Cocoa (Processed with Alkali) Nonfat Milk
Sodium Caseinate Corn Syrup Solids Sunflower Oil Magnesium Phosphate Salt
Disodium Phosphate DiPotassium Phosphate Aspartame Soy Lecithin Vitamin C
Ferric Orthophosphate Tocopherols Carrageenan Zinc Sulfate Alpha Tocopherol Acetate
Niacinamide Copper Gluconate D-Calcium Pantothenate Maltodextrin Manganese Sulfate
Vitamin A Palminate Pyridoxine Hydrochloride Riboflavin Thiamin Mononitrate Chromium Nicotinate Glycinate Chelate
Selenium Glycinate Microcrystalline Cellulose Biotin Potassium Iodide Phytonadione
Magnesium Carbonate Vitamin D3 Cyanocobalamin

Calcium Caseinate: Protein extract taken from cow’s milk.  It is treated with additives; spray dried, and is often added to foods like creamers.

Certain people can be deathly allergic to this ingredient.  It’s cheap to process, and will often be substituted for other forms of milk protein. High quality protein is offered in the top 10 list of the best meal replacements.

Fructose: Simple sugar which can be extracted from many different foods. It’s absorbed directly into the bloodstream after ingesting, which if absorbed in high amounts, can cause blood sugar issues.

Studies have shown it can cause metabolism disorders, insulin resistance, and increase bad cholesterol. A study by Louisiana State University saw:

“high-fructose meals… did not suppress circulating ghrelin, a major appetite-stimulating hormone”

Fructose didn’t offer support in terms of reducing hunger.

Another study performed by both the University of California, Davis, and the University of Pennsylvania found:

“diets high in fat and fructose is likely to lead to increased energy intake, weight gain, and obesity”

They also concluded:

“potential for weight gain from increased fructose… may only represent one aspect of its metabolic consequences”

There are many studies which show fructose can potentially cause weight gain and issues with metabolism.   2 shakes a day provided around 8 grams of sugar depending on the flavor. Sugar should be limited in any weight loss plan, as it has no nutritional value, and can promote weight gain.

Carrageenan: Extract from seaweeds used to thicken, stabilize and gel other additives. It’s often used in processed foods as a cheap way to provide stability.

The University of Iowa reviewed carrageenan thoroughly and found:

“cancer-promoting effects of undegraded carrageenan… widespread use of carrageenan in the Western diet should be reconsidered”

“exposure to carrageenan and the occurrence of colonic ulcerations and gastrointestinal neoplasms”

In studies, it was shown to potentially lead to ulcers and lacerations in the colon. This means it has a cancerous effect on the body, and it can be extremely damaging to health.

The review confirmed that this additive should not be used in foods, as it can be substituted with other ingredients and is far too potentially risky.

Artificial Flavors: Man made ingredient that is often extracted from things like tar, petroleum, and inedible goods. It can also be extracted from common allergens.

Companies are not required to list where they extracted their ingredients to make a certain flavor. Some may experience allergies when using additives like this.

Corn Syrup Solids: A concentrated form of corn syrup that is mostly glucose. It is included in powdered drinks as a way to sweeten a product while being able to preserve itself easier than a liquid ingredient.

One study by the University of North Carolina found that:

“increased consumptions of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) in beverages may be linked to the increase in obesity”

“linked with increased energy intake and weight gain”

This study showed that when eating corn syrup, there’s an increased likelihood that one won’t be as satiated. So one can potentially eat lots of this additive and still feel hungry. This can increase the risk for overeating calories.

Aspartame: Artificial sweetener which has had a controversial use, due to studies showing it may be unsafe.

One such study was run by Yale University, they found:

“fuels the food seeking behavior”

“encourage sugar craving and sugar dependence”

In this study it showed that though aspartame is intended as a healthier sugar substitute, it ends up causing more of a dependence on sugar cravings, while not promoting satiety.

There has been continued controversy on this ingredient due to claims it was made legal to use without having enough safety studies performed.

The Yale University study cited showed that aspartame had an effect much like fructose. Large amounts of it can be eaten without a loss of appetite. This can increase the likelihood for obesity, and it may lead to unwanted metabolism disorders. Our experts compiled a list of the top 10 meal replacements that can be viewed here.

WonderSlim Quality of Ingredients

Click here to compareThere’s aspartame, fructose artificial flavors, and carrageenan which may be potentially harmful. Fructose is one major sweetener which has been shown in studies to cause weight gain and metabolism disorders.  It’s a cheap additive that is only used to help provide a certain taste, and it has no nutritional value.

There’s also less than a gram of fiber added to flavors such as chocolate cream, which is significantly low and unlikely to help with appetite suppression. Much more fiber is needed in order to aid proper digestion, and to help with satiety.

Another issue with WonderSlim is that the kind of protein used is cheap. The main additive in Calcium Caseinate is often added as a processed and inexpensive protein source. A thorough list of the top 10 meal replacement shakes are offered when you click the link provided here.

The Price and Quality of WonderSlim

Sales are offered direct with a 7 serving box selling for $12.95. This averages to a daily price of $3.70 if 2 shakes are drank each day.

Added to WonderSlim are artificial additives and cheap protein in the form of processed milk.  The main ingredients added to this are artificial flavors and fructose. When looking at a food label the first ingredients listed will be added in the highest amounts. The order of additives is Calcium Caseinate, Fructose, and Natural and Artificial Flavors.

Therefore, the majority of this shake is sweeteners and flavoring agents instead of just protein, fiber, or vitamins and minerals. For the price paid, it’s a poor choice for a meal replacement. Far too many of its main ingredients are potentially harmful, and they can potentially promote weight gain. There’s more of a focus on flavoring than nutrition.

Before making a final decision on WonderSlim, it’s important to look over the kinds of ingredients used, quality of protein, and whether or not it mixes well. Customers that have complained about WonderSlim add that it’s gritty and artificial tasting, as well as not satisfying enough to replace a full meal. Chris says:

Wow, I’m surprised because wonderslim is literally everywhere. I’ve never heard of 18shake before, but it does sound interesting to use. You would think that wonderslim would either taste good, or fill you up. If it’s not doing one, then it should do the other.
