Women’s Best Whey Protein Ingredients and Side Effects

Here are the ingredients to their vanilla flavor:

Whey Protein Concentrate Whey Protein Isolate Aroma Thickening Agent Xanthan Soy Lecithin
Papain Salt Beta-Carotene Zinc Gluconate Sucralose
Acesulfame K Iron Sulfate Retinyl Acetate Cyanocobalamin Copper Sulfate
Pyridoxine Hydrochloride Cholecalciferol Thiamin Hydrochloride Pterolymonoglutamic Acid B-Biotin

Whey Protein Concentrate: A rich protein source which is extracted as a byproduct of the cheese making process. Athletes and bodybuilders alike will often supplement with it in order to help maximize their muscle gains.

Whey concentrate has rich amino acids, is easy to absorb, and it’s widely considered an optimal protein source.

Help improve your weight loss success through the use of an effective meal replacement shake; we’ve listed the 10 best here.

Aroma: This can come from many different sources but it is most commonly known in the US as a natural flavor, as it is intended to give a distinct flavor or smell. The reason why it is added is due to natural ingredients often not having a stable shelf life, this aroma can persist so it still keeps the exact same smell even in the process of shipment.

Since this can be found in in many different sources, it’s unknown exactly where the makers of Women’s Best Whey Protein sourced it from. This can come from common allergens such as wheat, nuts, soy, or even through artificial means.

Papain: Enzyme taken from the papaya fruit which is intended for many purposes including the reduction of inflammation, treatment of wounds, and also as a meat tenderizer.

When used appropriately it’s likely to be free of any side effects, it can cause irritation to both the stomach and mouth when used in excess.

Sucralose: Synthetic calorie free sweetener that is said to be a safer sugar alternative. Some studies have linked Sucralose to damaging long-term side effects. One such study by the North Carolina State University section of Engineering discovered it could cause alternations to:

“glucose, insulin, and glucagon-like peptide”

This essentially mans that it can effect blood sugar levels even though it’s intended to be a sugar alternative.

Acesulfame K: A sugar substitute which is both artificial and free of any calories. Watchdog groups including the Center for Science in the Public Interest have said it’s best to avoid it, due to concerns over safety.

A unique study featured in a scientific journal entitled Chemical Senses said that Acesulfame K could cause:

“function on the adult’s sweet preference”

It was found within pregnant mice’s breast milk, and when transferred to its young it affected the preference for sweets. Other similar studies also showed issues such as DNA damage and even changes in the brain.

Retinyl Acetate: A natural form of vitamin A considered GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA. You’ll most likely find this in cosmetics and certain foods.

Pterolymonoglutamic Acid: Synthetic form of the vitamin Folate which is naturally found in leafy green vegetables, beans, eggs, meat, and grains. It’s especially important for cardiovascular health, DNA formation, energy, and many other functions.

Women’s Best Whey Protein Quality of Ingredients

It’s still unclear why this is especially marketed towards women, as there are no ingredients in this which would especially be targeted for women’s health. The ingredients are mostly all wholesome, which is evidence from the 24 grams of protein from whey isolate and concentrate.

They also add many rich vitamins and minerals which is essential to a good meal replacement.

The big issue is the use of 2 forms of artificial sweeteners. Both have been determined to be better left avoided due to the potential side effects which can be devastating. Serious cognitive, DNA, and long-term health related issues have been found in some clinical studies.

The best meal replacement brands for sustained weight loss have been rated in our top 10 list here.

The Price and Quality of Women’s Best Whey Protein

One serving size option is offered at 1.1 lbs. offering 15 servings sold at $21.99.

This breaks down to $1.46 per shake, or $2.93 if taken twice a day. They do advise up to a maximum of 3 shakes a day as either a post-workout or snack, not as a full meal.

The calories and sugar amount is low, but so is the added fiber which is likely why it is not marketed a full meal replacement. The added vitamins and minerals are added in small amounts as well, which also disqualifies it as a meal replacement.

Because they add 2 kinds of artificial sweeteners it further reduces the overall quality. It is less likely to lead to obesity than standard table sugar, but it still has its own set of potential problems.

Business of Women’s Best Whey Protein

They are known as Women’s Best and they currently only offer a contact form on their official website, no email, phone number, or address is offered for customer related inquiries.

They do offer an email for issues with deliver, but none for any other reason. A 14 day return is offered from the day one receives their products.

They also have an optional auto-shipment plan for 25 days of product routinely sent, however, this locks one into a contractual agreement, and the company has failed to give adequate information about themselves or their policies.

It is known that they are a European company, and they have both Austrian and German addresses for returns, but it’s unknown if these are addresses to companies which deal with the returns process, or if they are at all near to the actual headquarters.

“Mixed good and I liked the taste”

“I’ll be buying another one good stuff”

“Keeps you full and it is good for the belly”

Only a handful of 3rd party reviews are offered, as the majority comes direct from the official website, which may be potentially biased.

Conclusion – Does Women’s Best Whey Protein Work?

Determining if this is truly a useful brand is difficult since it does have low calories, high protein, and many forms of vitamins and minerals. Its faults are the low amount of daily serving per nutrient, low fiber content, and the addition of 2 artificial sweeteners. In particular the sweeteners are best avoided since there are many studies that show how they can lead to some damaging effects short and long term. There’s also the lack of company information and the very short return policy which is not described in detail, so you’re unable to know for certain if they can be made without added fees.

Our pick for the number 1 meal replacement shake that can deliver weight loss results is 18Shake. What distinguished it from other shakes is the use of only quality protein, all-natural ingredients, low calories, high amounts of vitamins and minerals, good amount of dietary fiber, and of course customers ratings.

Users said it helped to suppress their appetite, that it was very easy to mix in a shaker cup or blender, and that it made it easy to start losing weight. The creators of this shake are also highly touted and they have been in good standing according to customers. 18Shake’s website and user testimonials are available via their official website that we’ve provided here.

DO NOT give these people your business!

I received an order for multiple products on Dec. 14. The BCAA powder arrived with the lid loose, no seal, and about half full. I had ordered many times before and the products were fine. I emailed the following message to them on Dec. 15, and at least 8 times since then. THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED MY EMAILS AND HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX/REPLACE THE DAMAGED PRODUCT. Their customer service is rubbish. They do not reply to emails and have no phone number. They only allow contact now with an “app”. I DO NOT have a cell phone or any apps, so cannot contact them that way. (By the way, they contacted me fast enough BY EMAIL when I PLACED an order!)

“DEC. 15
I received this order yesterday. I just wanted to let you know that the seal on the PINEAPPLE BCAA POWDER was broken, and the container is just over HALF FULL. Also, I don’t know if there was supposed to be some foil or paper cover under the lid, but there was nothing.
I order a lot of your supplements and this is the first time I have had this issue, but I waited a long time for delivery this time and spent the money, and now one item is not sealed. I cannot return because your shipping is more than the cost of the item, and also this is NOT MY FAULT. I was hoping you would replace the item.”

I have now been trying for 2 weeks to contact them, re-emailing the above, to no avail. I had placed numerous orders in the past but I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE AGAIN. I just found an all natural, Pina Colada flavor BCAA powder from someone else, and am very happy. It’s a MUCH better product and great customer service. Dealing with WB has been a nightmare.
